An absolutely delicious hand crafted wine from master blender, Peter Jorgensen. It’s loaded with complex flavours, has great mouth feel and lingers long on the finish. It’s a classic example of a complete wine. From start to finish it has highlights that excite the palate.
The appearance is a deep inky dark red with indigo and brick red around the rim. High alcohol leaves long sticky legs on the glass.
The bouquet has ripe mulberry up front, quickly followed by rich chocolate and cinnamon spice. There’s a hint of eucalypt adding a slight menthol edge. The aroma is quite intense and very long lasting. The high alcohol gives a vanilla sweetness to the oak which is more fruitcake than savoury in nature.
The palate is big, round and mouth filling. The fruit characters are warm and dry with nicely balanced tannin adding to the overall weight and structure. Like many of Peter Jorgensen’s wines, it’s a journey from entry to aftertaste. The flavours evolve from simple fruit and spice, developing into complex characters, that lingers on the back palate until the next sip.
Strongly flavoured meat dishes with rich gravies and sauces are the key for this wine. The type of sauce that takes a chef days to reduce made from heirloom stock recipes has complex flavours and richness. Matching them with wines of this intensity makes for a powerful combination.
This wine is perfectly balanced and full of rich, luscious flavours, there’s almost no reason to keep it in the cellar however, like the rest of the range, this wine is made to keep for up to a decade. It’s a premium wine, made with care and passion,
